Radiologist and Nuclear Medicine Specialist

Professor Ken Miles is dual trained in radiology and nuclear medicine with a sub-speciality interest in oncological imaging. He has a particular interest in hybrid imaging that integrates nuclear medicine with radiology (SPECT/CT, PET/CT & PET/MR).
A UK medical graduate, Professor Miles completed his radiology and nuclear medicine training at Leicester and Cambridge. He was Consultant Radiologist in Nuclear Medicine at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge prior to relocating to the Sunshine Coast in 1995.
He has been involved in the establishment of four PET centres worldwide, including the Wesley Hospital, Brisbane. He has an active interest in imaging research and holds an academic appointment at University College London.

Dr Sally Johnstone specialises in Interventional Radiology. Dr Johnstone completed her medical degree at The University of Qld, going on to specialty training in Radiology at The Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
She then undertook Fellowship training in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at The Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane.
Sally has diverse interests across the specialty of Interventional Radiology and offers a wide variety of procedures and therapies including, but not limited to oncological, hepatobiliary, urological and vascular interventions. Her future interests lie in image guided pain interventions and Uterine Fibroid and Prostate Artery Embolisations.
Dr Johnstone currently holds Interventional Radiology positions at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and The Nambour General Hospital.
MBBS (UQ), FRANZCR, EBIR
Dr Kienzle is the Clinical Director of Radiology at Wesley Medical Imaging.
A University of Queensland Medical School graduate, Dr Kienzle completed his radiology training at the Princess Alexandra Hospital before undertaking advanced training in vascular and interventional radiology at the University of British Columbia and Vancouver General Hospital in Canada.
His expertise lies in a comprehensive range of image guided procedures and therapies with a particular interest in abdominal/hepato-biliary intervention and uterine fibroid embolisation.

Dr Parkinson specialises in interventional radiology and uro-radiology. After graduating from the University of Queensland Medical School, Dr Parkinson completed his radiology training at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane. He then undertook fellowship training in interventional radiology and uro-radiology at University College Hospital and Middlesex Hospital in London and at Westmead Hospital, Sydney.
Dr Parkinson provides a comprehensive range of interventional radiology procedures including vascular access, vascular intervention, biliary intervention, image guided biopsies and injections. He has expertise in varicocoele embolisation and has published in the field of radio-frequency ablation of renal tumours.
Dr Parkinson has recently been instrumental in the development of the prostate MRI service at Wesley Medical Imaging, establishing close ties with an internationally regarded centre in the Netherlands.
Dr Parkinson has been based at the Wesley since 2005 and is available for patient consultations regarding image-guided therapies by referral.

In 2006 Dr Avery graduated from the James Cook University School of Medicine with Honours. Dr Avery undertook his radiology training at the Princess Alexandra Hospital including a year of advanced training in MRI and cross-sectional imaging.
He then undertook a fellowship in abdominal and pelvic imaging at the Joint Department of Medical Imaging in Toronto, Canada.
Dr Avery is passionate about Radiology and has a keen interest in education and training. His clinical speciality interests include MR imaging, abdominal/pelvic imaging and neuroradiology.
